Zoo Safari
The Zoo Safari in Fasano (Brindisi), Puglia, is the first zoo-wildlife park in Italy and one of the largest in Europe by number of species. The Zoo Safari wildlife park is home to around 1,700 animals of 200 different species, in a vast Mediterranean scrubland covering about 140 hectares.
The park was opened in 1973 with just the wildlife section. In the following years the amusement park area was also opened, which would take the name Fasanolandia and become the first amusement park in Puglia.
One of the most delightful features of the Zoo Safari is the visit by car or bus along a safari route (from which the park takes its name), through the various areas of the park that host lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many other animals in complete freedom.
In addition to the zoo section, the park hosts an amusement park called Fasanolandia and a dolphinarium. It is one of the main destinations for a trip or holiday in Puglia.
